OneRepublic's "Invincible" Powers Up Kaiju No. 8 Anime Soundtrack

In an exciting fusion of Western music and Japanese animation, American pop-rock band OneRepublic has released their latest single, "Invincible," as part of the soundtrack for the popular anime series Kaiju No. 8. This collaboration marks the band's second venture into the anime world, following the success of their previous track "Nobody," which won the Japan Gold Disc Award 2025 for Song of the Year by Download.

"Invincible" encapsulates themes of struggle and resilience, mirroring the journey of Kaiju No. 8's protagonist, Kafka Hibino, a man who transforms into a kaiju to protect humanity. The song's powerful lyrics and dynamic composition enhance the emotional depth of the series, particularly during pivotal moments.

The official music video for "Invincible" was filmed in Tokyo, blending urban landscapes with traditional and contemporary Japanese cultural elements. This visual representation not only complements the anime's aesthetic but also showcases OneRepublic's appreciation for Japanese culture.

Fans of both OneRepublic and Kaiju No. 8 have warmly received the collaboration, praising the seamless integration of the song into the anime's narrative. As OneRepublic continues to promote their album Artificial Paradise (2024), which also features "Mirage"—a track created for the video game Assassin's Creed Mirage—their foray into anime soundtracks signifies a growing trend of cross-cultural artistic endeavors.

Kaiju No. 8 is currently airing and can be streamed on various platforms. "Invincible" is available on major music streaming services, and the official music video can be viewed on OneRepublic's YouTube channel.
